CAMBRIA PLACE
This main floor renovation of a mid-century modern home turned out so beautiful. It originally felt dark and closed off, and the kitchen needed some work to create functionality for the family. We created an open and bright space while staying true to the original mid-century aesthetic of the home.
PROJECT SUMMARY
Our goals were to open the spaces and create a more functional kitchen. The fireplace was a striking feature but felt dated and added to the feeling of darkness within the living room.
The kitchen design was our first task: developing the traffic flow, visuals between spaces, and addressing the light within the room was a priority. Adding skylights at the dining table area helped to define the space and made a striking change.
Some existing finishes remained, including the fireplace and stair railings. We installed new flooring and made the ceilings lighter. By changing some finishes, we were able to maintain some original elements and the mid-century aesthetic of the home.

PROJECT OUTCOME
We completed a main floor renovation of this home. We incorporated beautiful original features, and it was a wonderful opportunity to merge new ideas into the original architectural style. Light is often a neglected feature within our homes, and this was a great example of the drastic change lighting can achieve.
